I participated in Logo Life's Game Changers program, a program in which young teens like me were able to figure out our next steps towards creating a buisness with our passions. We discussed our intrests, explored different types of methods and venues to express our passions, discovered ways we could us our passions to create a meaningful impact on the world, and then figured out ways to create a successful business with it. The whole program was adventure themed, so we went through these steps as if we were progressing through a story. It was very entertaining and informative. Being able discuss our ideas and receive feedback from peers was helpful as well. I enjoyed listening to others talk about the things they were passionate about. I would definitely recommend the program for anyone stuck in a rut with what to do next. If you're struggling to figure out how to create a profitae business that you'll enjoy, Game Changers can help lead you in the right direction. Great entrepreneur program for kids and teens! Would definitely recommend :)

I think this was a very helpful course. I loved how they let everyone talk and left the chat open for conversation. I also thought it was really unique that they had mini break outs for everyone to brainstorm in small groups.

My 15yo son took the 3 day webinar last week and loved it! He is the kind of kid that only wants to have fun and not work. So for him to say this was "great" was monumental. I was able to occasionally listen in and really loved the information the instructors were imparting. I even learned things from this that I didn't know. It was refreshing to have someone else tell my son what I have been telling him for years. It was difficult to refrain from saying, "I told you so". Thank you for backing us up as parents!

My son (age 14 soon to be 15), just completed this course on the 6th and he absolutely loved it. He’s also enrolled and has begun the month-long course as well. The investment was by far one of the best uses of money spent all summer in addition to him getting new glasses 🤓. On the first night, my son told me the part of the discussion that stood out to him the most after his first session, he point out it was about growth mindset and how our attitudes towards challenges impact our outcomes. I knew he was listening and if it was simply that part alone, it was worth either way.

Discovering Business

We must understand the industry we’re
interested in so we can actually identify a problem to solve.

Choose an industry

The first step is to choose an industry that you would like to build your business in.

For example: Restaurant/Food, Music, Entertainment, Medical, Sports, etc

Analyze the industry

In order to identify a problem within an industry we have to understand the ins & outs first.

We need to research the past, the present, and the future of our chosen industries.

Create problem statement

With the research that we have, we will create a hypothesis of our problem statement.

What is the problem?
Who has the problem?
Why is it a problem?

We need to validate our problem statements
in order to know we're making a real impact.

Why this is important

We need to know the problem that we're creating a solution for is real. We need to be unbiased moving forward.

We don't want to create a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

Find evidence for hypothesis

How do we validate? How do we know this is a real problem?

Identify target audience

Identify who your end-user is.

Brainstorm ideas

We will have processes to guide us on how to brainstorm real solutions to the problems we've found. Collaboration is key here. We get to brainstorm for our own ideas, but also get help from our classmates.

Group sessions Brain dumping (individual) Brain writing (individual + group)

Create the prototype

Prototypes are built so that designers can think about their solutions in a different way.

Tim Brown, CEO of the international design and innovation firm IDEO, said it best:

“They slow us down to speed us up. By taking the time to prototype our ideas, we avoid costly mistakes such as becoming too complex too early and sticking with a weak idea for too long.” – Tim Brown

Ask your target audience

After creating the MVP (minimal viable product)

You should reach back out to your audience to get feedback about what they think about your solution & how helpful it is for their problem

What is a product designer?

Introduction

The look and feel of all of your favorite applications whether on the phone, computer, or web are all designed by product designers. Think Netflix, Google, Facebook, Amazon, the screens in your car, and much much more. There are product teams that build, maintain, and improve these apps.

How much they make

The average salary of an entry level product designer is around $80,000/year and after a couple years of experience can go up to an average of $120,000/year.

The goal of this curriculum is to help your child start early to get ahead of the curve.

Software Engineer Curriculum

For young people ages 13+, 14-22 recommended

What is a software engineer?

Introduction

All of the applications that you enjoy using at home and at work are coded into existence by software engineers. They play a large role in making it possible for us to interact with all applications, from websites you visit to the apps that are downloaded to your phone, even to the software that makes the phone work in the first place. Basically, they are pretty important when it comes to anything that has a digital interface (which includes your computers, the screens in your cars, smart tv’s and more).

Software Engineers are one of the main team members of these product teams. The other two main members are usually Product Managers and Product Designers.

How much they make

The average salary of an entry level software engineer is around $80,000/year and after a couple years of experience can go up to an average of $130,000/year.
